That is why I would have preferred that Bowles be let go this year. Give the new coach a head start on the decisions that need to be made.Navybuc wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 5:34 pm I mean, does it really matter? Bowles is likely gonna be fired after next season. The coaching staff usually then changes with the new HC. This team is about to get gutted and we are gonna have to rebuild like the Jags did. Ask Jacksonville fans…it was painful what they went through before Doug Pederson got there and they had all those #1s. We are about to experience that same kind of pain.
Buckle up boys and girls…the next few years are gonna be rlvery rocky.

Another head coach has to want to come here. Might as well let Bowles be the HC for the next couple retooling years and then bring in someone else when the future isn’t so bleak.13F11B wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 8:34 pmThat is why I would have preferred that Bowles be let go this year. I have a few issues with that:Grahamburn wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 6:37 amAnother head coach has to want to come here. Might as well let Bowles be the HC for the next couple retooling years and then bring in someone else when the future isn’t so bleak.
1) If Todd Bowles is the problem then his talent evaluations are a problem and he may choose to jettison the wrong players.
2) If the system a new coach brings in doesn't fit the players Bowles chooses for the team that new coach has to adjust or it will take a while to make those adjustments.
Unless you strongly think Bowles can fix things moving sooner is better IMHO.

I think people counting on Bowles being let go next year are assuming far too much.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I agree. If there as even a thought that Bowles would be let go next season then the trigger should be pulled now. No sense in delaying things and having a guy on a razor's edge all season.

He's only on the hot seat in the minds of fans. We'd have to fail miserably in 2023. I mean a Greg Schiano, Raheem Morris type failure for him to be canned.

No playcalling experience, overall inconsistent coaching history all together (Didn't coach in 2012, 2013, 2016), has ONLY ever been a WR coach. But he played and won a SB here 20 years ago today (guessing that's why they had his interview today).

Interesting that Rob Gronkowski said he thinks Tom Brady is going back to Tampa.

- I think that level of failure is very much in his wheelhouse, if that's what you think will be required.King Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 3:34 pm He's only on the hot seat in the minds of fans. - I think that another season of gutless, disorganized, boring, uninspired ball will get our attendance down to the level where the Glazers lose all interest in Bruce Arians' feelings or perceived post-coaching legacy.
- The average lifespan of our last five coaches is 3 years. Not sure why you're assuming this is the moment the Glazers will decide to get patient with a turd. Arians retired. The other four were ALL dealt worse hands than Bowles was when they took the job. Can you imagine Bowles coaching the mess Raheem was handed? How about his leadership combined with Josh Freeman's runny nose?
The only reason to think the Glazers will keep this idiot is if you have absolutely no faith in the Glazers being willing to fire a fool. That's the one thing they've been fairly good at.

Recent reports have indicated that quarterback Tom Brady will not return to the Bucs in 2023, but Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times says that is not necessarily the case. Assuming Brady wants to continue his playing career, a fourth year in Tampa should not be ruled out.

Again, I think it re-enforces what we know. SF is his top pick. Then I think a mix of NYJ, Miami, and Tampa. I think he's under a lot of self imposed pressure to win another after blowing up a nice retirement.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Except we don't know any of that. Now, if you want to say it reinforces some rumors & speculation that we've heard/discussed, then you'd be more accurate with that statement.
Don't tread on me

This. It's pure speculation. This season has felt like watching a reality show with how invested fans have gotten with drama and rumors

We won't know until we know.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I think he will see what’s out there but could very well come back here. I don’t even think he knows.Phantom wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 11:55 amRecent reports have indicated that quarterback Tom Brady will not return to the Bucs in 2023, but Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times says that is not necessarily the case. If the 49ers wanted him, I think he goes there in a heartbeat. But I’m not sure they want him. But they got everything he wants in an offense and it’s his dream team.
The problem with the Raiders is their OL is not good. If you don’t have a good OL, he’s not going there. Miami’s OL is also “eh”
Which is why I still think The Bucs are very possible. Wirfs, Jensen, and Mason are fine. Hell, Jensen and Wirfs are better than fine. You just need two fixes. And we have the receivers and I think we attack TE either by bringing Gronk back or drafting Mayer with the #1 pick. So there’s a lot of reasons why he may end up coming back here after flirting with FA.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
This is an interesting one, anyone got the background on this guy? He has been instrumental in Burrows success. Would be great in potentially developing a young QB.

He's been with the Bengals since 2016 on Marvin Lewis' staff. Taylor retained him. He has experience coaching WRs & QBs. He interviewed for the OC job, not QB coach. So his main focus would not be developing a QB but designing, coordinating, and calling plays for the offense.

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I’m not sure it’s wise to hire this guy as OC just because he gets to share the room with Joe Burrow. I would still prefer this over hiring Cooter, McCardell or the dude from the Broncos’ offensive coaching staff, but these kind of promotions are always uninspiring to me. No guarantee this guy can run and design an NFL offense because the Bengals got a stud young QB with hype.

Of the names out there so far I feel monken is the best/safest choice. Iirc his offense did pretty good here when he actually got to call plays. Then koetter took back over and sucked and gave them back. The game koetter took back over we had 500 yards offense but scored 3 points. How's that even possible.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Still, Monken was OC for 2016,17, and 18.Heisenberg wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 9:43 pm Of the names out there so far I feel monken is the best/safest choice. 19 wins and 29 losses as OC for us.
I think we should look at these 600/700 point offenses these smaller colleges are putting out. There just may be some special stuff happening and we may see some other position coach we'd like.

He sparingly called plays outside of 2018. Kind of like Bill Muir under Gruden, it was just OC in title.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 10:28 pmStill, Monken was OC for 2016,17, and 18.Heisenberg wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 9:43 pm Of the names out there so far I feel monken is the best/safest choice.
