Baker. Competes with Trask for starting QB job.

I’m here for the entertainment. And you should be too.

I mean... Even if we were interested not sure we have the cap space. And honestly if we were going the FA route rather Jimmy G

“Tank for Arch Manning”

That’s three years away, Phantom. But I’m all for a good tank.

I don't know about a tank. I know no one here is ready to have a Bowles/Lefty/Trask conversation, but I'm excited to see it.

But at the same time, the byproduct of that could very well be the top pick. I'm okay with learning that lesson as well.

Trask is a fine candidate to tank for Caleb Williams

Why would you be excited for that? Trask is much worse than Brady. The roster will be much worse, as well.

The off-season should be fun. They should be trading anyone of value and Trask will start in 2023..

They won’t though and they’ll keep this horrible coaching staff and sign a below average vet to go 7-10.

We are tanking for months of interesting draft forum conversations. Only to trade down and select a player who wasn’t even on the radar!

Caleb Williams. Draft a bunch of young interior O-Linemen and a LT in 2023 and stockpile picks to trade up to get Williams in 2024.

Hell, get Tim Tebow back in here as QB. With Kaepernick backing him up. We won't win but we will be the headline story every week.

The best possible thing that can happen at this point:

1) Lose out.
2) Fire Bowles and the rest of the Arians Bunch.
3) Pick in the top 10-12 or so. Go BPA. Do not reach for a QB.
4) Lean into the rebuild and wallow in cap hell next year. Baker might be too GOOD. Give the ball to Trask. Or hell, Gabbert. Who gives a shit?
5) Draft Caleb Williams.

And let's head on down the road

In this scenario, it might be better to keep the Arians bunch to insure that #1 overall pick and hire the new guys with the allure of drafting Williams.

That's a darn good point. My main concern is that if we keep the same staff, Arians and Licht will convince ownership to "reload" this offseason when that's absolutely the LAST thing we should be doing. There's no way, with Bowles's job on the line and Arians 72 or whatever, that they'll be like, "Yeah, let's accept this is a lost season and regroup for the long term." We'll end up kicking every cap can down the road (again), signing discount veterans to spackle as my holes as possible, and drafting for need. The result will boost us from 2 wins to 5 and we'll move back the rebuild a year.

Also - and this is a personal preference - I think David Shaw is a special coach. I know things ended badly at Stanford. I do not care. If I'm Ownership, I'm firing Bowles as he gets off the plane returning from Atlanta, jumping in the plane, flying it to Palo Alto or wherever, and meeting with Shaw. Then I'm introducing him Monday and going through a GM shortlist that he'll have direct input on.

Would you take Shaw or Jim Harbaugh if both were on the table?
